g60pops 0 Posted December 4, 2004 When changing from 1st gear(about 5000rpm) to 2nd gear i heard a big bang/ back fire. It has never done this before. What could the cause of this be? Leak in the exhaust? Car is a golf g60 Ed 1 with decat jetex exhaust, sns chip, 944 fpr, 68mm pulley, stage 4 jabba, jabba induction and boost return delete. Henny 0 Posted December 5, 2004 It could be a leak in your exhaust, yes... Has the car started to use more fuel than normal or is it suffering from any other bad/dodgy running symptoms? If it's using more fuel than normal, then I'd change the blue temp sender and check out the wiring to the lambda sensor as it could also be over-fuelling which causes your car to backfire... g60pops 0 Posted December 5, 2004 Blue cts was changed last week as was the wiring going to the lambda. Have noticed a very slight leak after the decat going to the first silencer. Will tighten the U bracket and see if the leak stops.
Henny 0 Posted December 5, 2004 yeah, if there's a leak it'll suck cold air in and cause a backfire... Sort the exhaust and it'll sort the banging... 8)
