gibber 0 Posted January 25, 2005 Milk shake on the oil cap does not always mean your hear is blown, if you got milk shake on your dip stick it does!
corradophil 3 Posted January 25, 2005 After a short drive the condensation/water in the engine will not evaporate. Keep an eye on the cap after longer journeys.
mariovr6 0 Posted January 25, 2005 after a longer journey there is no sign of milkshake n the oil cap,but only noticed the milkshake yesterday, aftera short journey for the first time. The dip stick is clean and no white but it always shows max oil. Could the water leak be connected to the problem?
dinkus 10 Posted January 25, 2005 If you don't get any milkshake on the cap after a long drive and there's none on the dipstick then it's fine. A water leak is unlikely to be related, but it depends on what is leaking where...
corradophil 3 Posted January 25, 2005 I'd sort the thermostat housing leak first, that is a known fault. You need to find there the water is leaking from at the header tank. Possibilities: 1. Cap pressure release - Is it operating correctly? i.e. is it damaged and releasing early or is the pressure building too much and the cap is having to release it. 2. Cap to tank seal - Is this making a good seal, make sure all mating parts are clean and the rubber 'O' ring is in good condition. 3. Damage to cap - Examine for cracks etc. 4. Damage to tank - Examine for cracks etc. 5. Leaks around connecting hoses and sensor. While you have leaks you will need to top the water up. Fix them and take it from there. Once it is leak free, if it still uses water, it suggests futher investigation of the engine is needed. Most garages have a sniffer which tests for head gasket problems. Might be worth getting that done.
mariovr6 0 Posted January 25, 2005 i dont think the leak is the bottle or cap cos there both new!! there is presure when hot if you squeeze the hoses theres no give until it cools down.... could a airlock be the reason for it comimg out the bottle?? water still turns a rusty colour when the pink coolent gets old

mariovr6 0 Posted January 25, 2005 i mean the water bottle holder where you put the water in with the water cap (lid) where it says max/min water level
