Nearly blew the engine!!!!!!!!!

Hi, i was driving and went to change from 2nd to 3rd doing 35mph and car started to slow down and it was red lining!!!!!!!!!!!

 

it was ok after I slowed down and i wacked it into 2nd and carried on fine but as soon as I go faster the thing just revs free!!!

 

if any one could advise me were the problem is and what it is i would be grateful. I have use of all the gears but just not at speed.

 

any help with be great

Sounds like your clutch is slipping under power...... new clutch time!

 

(May just be a leak in one of the cylinders though..... would need inverstigating!)

nah, like I said I have use of all the gears, but just not a speed. I think it the clutch but deciding between black diamond and sachs one? any one got any views on either of these?

Do you have 30% more power than standard?

(And even the standard VR clutch is happy with up to 250-270lbft, so you'd need to be running serious power before requiring an uprated clutch..)

yeah i think i go for just the standard one my car is stock pretty much

have u heard of LUK? couple of hours work u rekon to fit clutch? cheers for your input mate

i wouldnt reccomend the black diamond in my experience m8 :)

 

id stick with the g60/vr6 sachs item.

I have an LUK on my VR. They're fine too, also do OEM for VW.

The books usually reckon on three hours for a clutch replacement..

GSF sell LUK ones... don't buy a SACHS - several quality issues have been reported latly and you don't want to be doing a labour intensive job twice!
