fla 9 Posted February 24, 2005 This may be absolute sacrilege but with all the problems re cutting out and other electrical gremlins, has anyone thought of, or indeed already done this? If so, what was it swopped with? Mines only done 50k and i also have electrical issues which I am slowly working though with a lot of help from the usual suspects on the forum. But as my C is something I would want to keep longer term (unless someone offers me £7k for it!), I'm just thinking about tying this in with the planned manual conversion this summer. Obviously I wouldnt want the big budget jobs of Biggerbigben and maybe PhatVR6, more a normal swop. You'd of course lose that superb engine sound though and oodles of torque. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 24, 2005 The majority of people that hoik out a VR6 either put a bigger VR6 or a 24V derivative in it's place, or 20V Turbo....but these routes can get expensive. I think it would be best to solve the electrical gremlins first because potentially they could come back and haunt you with your new engine. And of course the other thing is the engine will run a lot better when the bugs are sorted, which will then reveal how good the VR can be. If you've got some test meters etc, you can do continuity checks on engine harness to make sure there's no broken wires etc.....tedious and boring I know, but it could save you a lot grief and expense in the long run. Try searching for an inlet leak too. With the engine running, spray some carb cleaner around the injectors, throttle, inlet manifold etc etc and listen for a change in engine note.
