Gear linkage .. worn ?

havnt been on here for a while..

 

my local had a drive in my rado and said the gear linkage was worn (this is the lack of klink-klink you get when you change gear, yes?)

 

in the slightly porridge like gear change down to worn linkage ?

 

if so, is it expensive to replace ?

corrado's have cables rather than a linkage,of which i know nothing about to be honest!

 

its worth just lifting up the gear surround though,to check if you have a circlip missing off the horizontal shaft.

The cables don't wear, but can need adjustment.

 

The lever assembly can lose circlips as mentioned by Riley, and the gearbox mounting as it wears makes for a baulky shift - but thats it.

it was missing on mine,i couldnt get gears easily especially 1st,2nd,3rd...

 

put a clip on and its like a diffarent car!

My gearchange went like a spoon in ready-brek just before the cable snapped.

It broke at the point were it connects to the gear control arm in the engine bay, leaving me with the piece in the piccy no longer attached to the cable.

Think it must've been the metal joint goint soft prior to the actual snap which made the change feel sloppy.

 

Price? Dubsport charged me £130 (with a second hand cable.)
