fuel pump/ car running like c**p

my g60 is very unwell, couple of weeks ago it started pinking, so changed fuel filter, plugs, and checked dizzy rotor arm all ok, plug leads are new magnecor. and was still pinking so retarded the timing slightly to stop it, all seemed fine until tonite, imposible to start and when running coughing and spluttering and very little fuel pump noise, is it the pump or could it be something else.

its running full blended charger, 65mm pulley, sns st5, red tops, 3.5 fpr, all very new.
