mk1 16v wont start

hi, my mates done a mk1 2.0 16v conversion with twin webbers...hes got everything in and sorted but it wont start...as in theres no spark...any suggestions??

does it have an ignition amplifier like the 1.8's I had to replace ours as it had been sitting for a while

?? sorry...do you mean this wire could be faulty?

the ecu just needs one ignition/switched live.

 

is there a spark from the coil lead?

 

if there is then maybe its the hall sender or rotor arm,or maybe a bad earth.

My mistake, although I haven't a MK2 manual handy. There should be a big brown that goes direct to the battery. There should also be a red/black somewhere, it might be at the coil.
