Ford 0 Posted April 4, 2005 Hi does the VR6 golf from 1993 have the 288mm brake set up? And just to confirm they are narrower than the C VRs carriers. Many thanks
Geo 0 Posted April 4, 2005 I don't think they got the 288 brakes until 95ish. A 93 would have 280s AFAIK
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 4, 2005 Yeah, 288s came on Highlines and some MK4 Golfs. Unfortunately the 288 calipers are the same overal width as the 280 caliper/carrier setup. The 288s don't have that big brace bar thing. And users of 288s will find their standard spacer saver spare will not go over the 288s. You need a highline space saver....£21 from VW and then you swap the tyres over.
dinkus 10 Posted April 4, 2005 My '96 Mk3 GTI (revised interior) has 288mm fronts, but I don't know if the older GTIs did as well...
h100vw 0 Posted April 4, 2005 My 94 L 16V mk3 is 280s. I think all the oval side repeater cars got 288s either with 8, 16V or VR engines. Gavin
