abs

Recommended Posts

hi

I have a 1994 vr6 corrado. As i understand it the abs light should come on briefly when you turn on the ignition. Is it the button to the left of the instrument panel, ie to the left of the steering wheel.

cheers

Not sure on the VR but on the G60 it's a big orange light to the left side of the clocks - not one of the lights underneath

Yes - it should come on for a few seconds while the car checks the ABS system. It then goes out if the ABS system is functioning correctly

are you getting any other signs of abs working?...when you start the car with your foot on the brake you should feel a vibration??....(( or does it skid if you ram your foot on the brake at 70 mph? ))

Moving.

Btw, Corradowales - are you pushing the car off that pier? And I always thought that Dr_Mat would crack first.....

(I know it's not exactly a pier ...)

hi

dont think the abs light is coming on when i turm on the ignition. Could it be the bulb?

It could be. It's not uncommon for people with ABS issues to break the bulb in order to sell the car, but bear in mind no ABS light = no MOT certificate.

When I say 'break' the bulb, it's because the bulb is part of the whole assembly in typical VW style, so you can't just take it out....but if you're good with a soldering iron you can put a new one in for a few pence.
