antonio_b12 0 Posted May 13, 2005 stupid newbie question. just wondering what year the ODB1 starts and goes too, and when does the ODB2 start? cheers
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2005 OBD1 and OBD2 co-existed. All Corrados are OBD1, but late VRs have OBD2-style connectors.
antonio_b12 0 Posted May 13, 2005 ahh so wat best distributor or power cap?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 13, 2005 Try a google search on On Board Diagnostics to get the proper answer. Distributor or coilpack? Coilpack because it has no moving parts and therefore not subject to wear. And distributors cost the same as new coilpacks, so there's no financial saving from having one over the other either. junkie 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Thought coil packs were like quite expensive? Whats the costs for both? Can i and is it worth it changing to coil packs on my G60 then, if so is there any other parts i would need?
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2005 The only engine that had both, iirc was the VR6. The ECU needs to be CP aware, so you wouldn't be able to get a G60 running coil packs without changing quite a lot of the engine management. The Distributor for a VR is upwards of £150+VAT, which isn't far off the price of a coil pack...
junkie 0 Posted May 13, 2005 dr-mat Cheers, thought it would be complicated. Thought if i converted it i could then use traction control somehow.
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Erm.... nope. The VR's traction control is a function of the ABS system anyway.
