julesz 0 Posted January 13, 2003 Thinking about lowering the G60. Any suggestions? Im quite happy with the ride but just want to get rid of some arch space. DOnt want to go too low either as i have to park on a high kerb everyday at work, and speed bumpas are already an enemy...Was thinking about just some shorter springs!! G60ING 0 Posted January 13, 2003 Hey there I went with Neuspeed soft sport springs a couple years back when H&R made them for Neuspeed. It lowered the car enough to make the space above the rim the same as the space on the sides of the rim. I like it like this. Sometimes MK4 people ask me when I'm going to lower my car :? As for Shocks and struts. I have Bilstien sports up front and I rode a long time with the OEM rears and I really like how the car feels with this setup. Its not as bone jaring as the bilstiens all the way around as I've felt in other cars. But then again my suspension bushings are all new OEM. So now on the rear I just installed a new set of KYB. The old OEM rears were toast and I wanted something with a similar feel. I have yet to drive with these new KYBs because I'm waiting on my tranny to be assembled

julesz 0 Posted January 16, 2003 If i put on just the H&R springs and left the standard shocks and wheels would all be ok?
G60ING 0 Posted January 16, 2003 If i put on just the H&R springs and left the standard shocks and wheels would all be ok? you could but after 12years you car's suspension is very tired so you won't see the performance gain you desire and shortly down the road you might want to install new shocks and struts. after you install the springs you should get an alignment and if you do the front struts down th road you will have to pay for the alignment again plus all of the labor for installing the pieces so you are basically paying for the same labor twice. Why not just hold off on installing the springs until you can afford the shocks and struts too. A job worth doing is worth doing right the first time
