Fuel Filter Help.

Recommended Posts

I'm no mechanical genius but everyone said this is an easy job, so the car's up on axle stands at the moment. However, an important question, is this my fuel filter? If it is, has anyone got any suggestions on how to remove the clip attaching it to the underside of the car.

Many thanks,

Tom

Gahhh!!! THE ******* thing won't come off. It's held on by a phillips screw in the most arkward place possible, and the 19mm nut at one end must have been tightened by King Kong. In my efforts to loosen said nut, I've bent the casing of the blasted filter. Time to take it to the garage where they have tools for such stubborn things...

Sorry to hear about your problem Tom,

spray it with some wd40 or better some loosol/penetrating fluid

just let the threads soak and try again in the morning with a new filter near of course !

The screw just closes a lugged clamp. I had to wrench the filter off, remove and clean up the clamp. The cable ties are a better option.

Sorry about the poor quality pic, a camera phone and poor lighting. I've soaked the nut in WD40 and I'll give it another go this coming weekend with some more brute force and some cable ties :)

Cheers all,

Tom

Cheers man, I really appreciate that. I can be there any time, just let me know when's convenient. I'll bring cable ties :-)
