Scott 0 Posted July 17, 2003 Hi All, I have just been down to the VW specialist for my car to be looked over as this smoking problem I have is driving me nuts *:( Anyway the damage is that I have worn valve guides / stem seals… so the head needs to come off…. Now I’m thinking that the engine has done 105k miles now so a re-con head is a wise choice…. But I can either get my VW specialist to do it at all a all in price of circa £550 or I can do the job myself and source a stage 1 pack recon head from somewhere for about the same money…. I have sourced a re-con head through hiflowheads for £400 – anyone heard of these guys? TSR want £595, Stealth about the same I’m told. Any advice or suggestions appreciated!!!
