Dr Forinor 0 Posted August 22, 2005 When the car is cold and I press the clutch pedal, no noises at all, but when the car has been driven for a while and I press the clutch pedal, you hear a spring being pressed and depressed, you dont notice as you drive around but everytime I park up in the garage after a run I hear it. What is it and does it mean anything?
2cc 0 Posted August 22, 2005 Sounds like the return spring on the pedal, sometimes they make a noise like you describe. Worth a look
Dr Forinor 0 Posted August 22, 2005 So I take it I just need a new one? Is it just a case of take out old and fit in new or is it complicated?

redcorrado 0 Posted August 23, 2005 my golf vr6 also does it,sounds like its coming from the slave cylinder. Its been like it a while (2 months) so maybe i should take it to the vw garage .
Supercharged 2 Posted August 23, 2005 coming from the slave cylinder That will probably be the release bearing then...
adamukcorrado 0 Posted August 23, 2005 Mine has been doing this, started about a fortnight after having clutch and slave cylinder replaced., sounds to be coming from under bonnet as opposed to pedal.

Odd, the way I see it is, it must be just the diaphram spring itself or the release bearing just squeaking on it, I assume you changed the spring and pressure plate and release bearing, and not just the clutch plate itself? Not that I'm worried about the noise but.. its just a bit strange :S
adamukcorrado 0 Posted August 23, 2005 yeah i'm not too concerned about the noise yet, i had john at JMR do a serious amount of work at the same time (chains tensioners, cluch etc etc ) so not sure exactly if he replaced release bearing etc, but i'm sure he would of done if he deemed it required. going back to him soon ish to give my bank account another battering so i'll get him to look then. I wouldn´t mind about that, i´ll wait until the time to change the clutch!
