Anyone chipped their VR6?

Recommended Posts

If so where did ya get the chip from?

How much does it cost?

Is it easy to fit?

Is it worth the effort?

Any feedback would be gladly recieved :D

yup had mine done, makes it soooo smooth.

Not really much more powerful, but it changes the engine into something more usuable.

Cost me £250, got it done by Star Performance in Scotland, bit out of you way!

You should tell the insurance company, but how can they tell?!!? Chip is hidden away inside the ECU.

I just got a universal BBR star chip and didn't really notice much difference really. Maybe abit smoother but after trying before and after times there wasn't any difference. Maybe a tailored map would be better but not sure its worth the £400 unless your engine is modified.

Timo - I'd change your avitar so you can't read your reg - all this talk of insurers and unmentioned mods n'all.

;¬)

I dont drive that car at the minute. Its in storage.

Your not going to see much of a difference unless your car has other engine mods...mine had a Unichip fitted with the Schrick, even then I don't think it gave me any more horses, just enabled the Schrick to work in a smoother fashion.

As a standalone mod on a vanilla VR6, better to spend your money elsewhere IMO.

My 93 VR6 has a AMD chip and remap and have a printout reading 203BHP - as for the 'is it noticable' i could not comment as it was put on by prev owner but i do get some good MPG readings on the motorway which is always good for a VR

:D
