Johnny Corrado 0 Posted October 10, 2005 changed the the pads all round, bled system, suddenly no hand brake!!! the brake compensator was seized!!! fixed now i think!! should i bleed the brakes again?? do i need new calipers?? when i de-seized the brake compensator, it moved quite freely, wondering how easy it should be to move? maybe it is buggered?? who ever has the time to read this is really nice :-P
Supercharged 2 Posted October 10, 2005 Do the rear calipers move if you hit the break pedal? - if so then adjust the handbrake cable...

bcstudent 0 Posted October 17, 2005 As far as I'm aware the handbrake is mechanical, it's completely seperate to the hydraulic brake system that includes the compensator. With this in mind a faulty brake compensator will have no effect on the handbrake. Get a mate to pull the handrake on while you watch the cables to the calipers and check that they're connected. If they're operating the arms on the calipers properly then the mechanism inside the caliper may be faulty, which means new calipers. Oh yeah, the brake compensator should move very freely.
