Dougalo 0 Posted October 18, 2005 Hi, After years of owning MK2 golfs i finally got my first corrado at the weekend! Anyway, i've encountered a new problem which was never an issue on my golfs - power steering!! From cold the power steering squeels (just like a fan belt) then I don't hear anything again until i'm on full lock where it starts to squeel again. Also when i'm being heavy on the power steering(i.e 3 point turn), it sometimes goes heavy (just for a half a second) and then starts to work fine again. Any ideas? Cheers
Supercharged 2 Posted October 18, 2005 Firstly check the fluid level, colour and belt condition/tension...
GIXXERUK 0 Posted October 18, 2005 what flavour rado is it, sounds like the belt slipping on the pas pump mate , check the tension and condition and the fluid level , could be sucking air
Walesy 0 Posted October 18, 2005 Hi mate Congrats on the new purchase!!!! That problem sounds like the same problem i've got. I've replaced the belt and fluid so i've narrowed the problem down the it being the pump :( . When replacing the fluid in the PAS pump you have to use a specific fluid from VAG or GSF. If a previous owner hasn't used the right fluid it can knacker the pump and I think that's what has happened with mine, and unfortunatly yours. Firstly, Have you checked the fluid level?.
