Ronan 0 Posted November 9, 2005 Right ok, I have only noticed this recently, but I seem to be getting a petrolly smell on wide open throttle. I'm sure this isnt right? I can;t smell it the rest of the time, my car doesnt seem to be using more petrol than usual (for a tuned G60 anyway) and there are no other tunning faults apart from the misfire at high revs - could this be a cause/symptom? Again, (2nd topic in the engine section in ten minutes hmm) any help would be greatly appreciated.
Supercharged 2 Posted November 9, 2005 Check the small pipe at the end of the rail on the right hand side as you look into the engine bay, this can leak onto the inlet and the fuel will evaporate to hard to spot...
Jim 2 Posted November 9, 2005 I used to get this on my G60 too.. Vince was convinced that a crack in the gasket that went from the block to the exhaust manifold was to blame. But it was such a long, labour intensive (and consequently expensive) job to do, I never bothered getting it sorted!
Ronan 0 Posted November 9, 2005 It's not really strong or anything though, but its deffo there. Hmm......
Jim 2 Posted November 10, 2005 Yeah.. if you used to boot it, let off and wait a second or so and there would be a noticable smell of fuel / sweet exhaust fumes type. Not like flooding the cabin, but definately there.
Tempest 0 Posted November 10, 2005 As a precaution, I'd still change the fuel hoses in the engine bay (3 in total), as mentioned (plus consequences of what can happen if neglected) here http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24695.
