Blue_Joe 0 Posted November 24, 2005 If your going to change it make sure you get an Elring one from GSF as they are pretty much the best you can get. They aren't that expensive, mine was about 20 odd quid for a G60!
veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted November 24, 2005 A head gasket?
dinkus 10 Posted November 24, 2005 The tell-tale signs of a screwed head gasket are... Puffs of white smoke (i.e. steam) from the exhaust Using lots of coolant White 'mayo' (oil emulsion) on the dipstick or on the oil cap (if the mayo goes on the cap after a nice long run then it's probably just condensation, but if it's on the dip-stick - game over). The gasket itself is pretty cheap, it's just a bit of cardboard or steel (dunno which for a valver), but the labour to fit it won't be cheap...
veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted November 24, 2005 Ahh right I wondered why people say they cost so much. I found a site for a 16v head for like £16 or £18, and wasnt sure if it was genuine. Thanks anyways
