pacificshack 0 Posted November 30, 2005 Hi there, Going to get a K&N air filter for my 1.8 16v. From whatt I understand all I can do is fit the element. I've heard people drilling holes in their airbox for added airflow, but is this I can do? Forgive me if this sounds stupid but is there any way of linking up a hose to the airbox and running accelerated air through it? For example fitting some sort of air breather along side the narrow radiator, having some type of fan in that and then running the air straight to the air box? Or would this be a pointless exercise? Thanks.

ben16v 0 Posted November 30, 2005 have look inside your air box you`ll see a plastic tube from the front to half way through, call this the snorkel, you can prise this out from the front of the box (outside) leaving a big hole for air to go in! you can run some tubing from your grill or whereever to the airbox this should ensure you get cold air into the engine personally i wouldnt bother drilling holes as removing the snorkle is reversible
