Mattla 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Evening all, I'm in need of some advice... My VR6 is making a strange noise on the move. The only thing I can compare it to is the sound of a rusty gate being open and closed, any ideas as to what it maybe?
VR6 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Not based on that! Sorry :) Where abouts from? Does it change with engine revs or is it related to road speed? Front, back, left, right?
Mattla 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Cheers for the reply. It's related to road speed rather than acceleration. It sounds like it's coming from the front, sorry I can't be more specific.
Henny 0 Posted December 6, 2005 stone in between the disk and the wheel/ disk and caliper or you've worn your brake pads out completely down to the metal... Get the brakes checked out and I think you'll find your answer... ;)
Mattla 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Nicely. I know the pads are sweet so it's most likely a stone. Thanks for your help.
dr_mat 0 Posted December 6, 2005 Could also be the wheel bearing ...
Henny 0 Posted December 6, 2005 could also be the shield on the back of the disk which has either got something jammed in it, or has been knocked and is catching on the disk... there's also a heat shield over the drivers side inner CV joint... if you've been in mud/snow, this can get crud stuck in it and will make nasty noises as the crud rubs on the CV joint...
