Trig 0 Posted December 7, 2005 Taking the Corrado off the road for a couple of months for various reasons. It's going to be kept in my garage so won't get wet at all, have just done an oil change. Questions/Opinions: How often should I start the car? How often should I drive the car? Any other precautions I need to take? Is this in the right section? ;) Thanks. dinkus 10 Posted December 7, 2005 Start the car - It shouldn't need to be started all that often (ask someone who has a clue for a more detailed answer there tho!) but if you do start it, make sure you fully warm it up (i.e. drive it) before you turn it off again. If you don't, you'll end up with moisture in your oil and all sorts of lovely corrosion will happen. It's also a good idea to roll it forward or backwards a bit every couple of weeks. It'll stop the brakes from binding on and your tyres from getting flat spots. And er no - General Car Chat ;)
Henny 0 Posted December 7, 2005 if you're going to start the car, drive it for at least 30 minutes to get it up to temperature properly and to recharge the battery.
dutch 0 Posted December 7, 2005 I usually put my car on blocks...this keeps the weight off the suspension. I start the car every couple of weeks and let it run for 20-30 mins.. but the biggest thing is the keep the area dry...place a large bag of salt in the garage to keep the moisture level down..
