ZippyVR6 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Ive been offered a Golf vr6 Highline for what I think is a fairly good price. It has all working bits and the mulberry paintjob and only 86k on a P plate, Im not going to sell mine so was looking to make a bit of dollar on the side. and I wont be posting on here caus that would be rude, But, what do you reckon it is worth? Kevin Bacon 5 Posted December 12, 2005 3 or 5 door? I've seen HLs go for between £2K for a tatty one and £4.5K for a minter..... The later OBD2 engine management affects values too as it drives a lot better than the earlier OBD1 version. If there's no idle valve, it's OBD2. ZippyVR6 0 Posted December 12, 2005 5 door, in fair to good condition. so being obd2 would it be more powerfull then?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted December 12, 2005 5 doors go for a bit more too, suits the 'family' buyer you see.... Yep the OBD2 2.8s put out an average of 190bhp as standard...but VW never disclosed it. A good selling point ;-)
ZippyVR6 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Mmmmm good to know. Thanks very much. could be my first step into 2nd hand car trading. :cowboy:
Slimbo 0 Posted December 12, 2005 If it's immaculate and standard, then it should fetch £4k on a good day. Some people seem to think they're worth a lot more than that though.

Slimbo 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Motor Cars aren't assessed under CGT.... ;)
VR6 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Depends if you're trading them or if they're for private use. Badges of trade :)
Walesy 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I think you have to buy and sell more than 4 cars a year before you can be classed as a trader... at least with regards to business insurance anyways. ..... so they say.....
Slimbo 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Depends if you're trading them or if they're for private use. Badges of trade :) Well if you're trading them, the gains you make will be Schedule D Case 1 profits assessable under Income Tax as the cars will be classed as stock. That's my interpretation of it anyway :)
VR6 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Sounds about right to me - my focus has been business tax but yeah, it would be Schedule D1 if assessed as trade.
Slimbo 0 Posted December 12, 2005 I only say that because I had an advanced taxation exam last week and had been studying, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what I was going on about.
