thermostat housing

Recommended Posts

i have just had my thermo housing replaced in my 94 vr6 rado

does anyone know which colour sender goes were?

mine goes from yellow (left side of thermo housing) then blue and then a black sender.

see the problem i am having is the coolant shoots up in town driving from 90-105 it seems quite eratic!

if any of the senders are faulty are they hard to replace?

thanx jay

As far as I know, it doesn't matter which sensor goes where, its just a hollow pipe with three holes in. It obviously does matter which connector goes on each sensor (sorry to state the obvious). 90 normally, 105 in traffic doesn't sound a problem. Sounds like mine, you only need to worry if it gets a lot higher than that. The sensors are very easy to replace but you will lose a bit of coolant. It's literally a case of sliding the little green clip out and then pull the sensor out, new one in preferably with new o-ring.

The yellow one is a 4 pin connector and is responsible for the temperature gauge, so this is the one you may suspect of being at fault. The blue on sends messages to the ECU regarding fueling and the black one deals with air conditioning issues.

Best wishes

do you think ther is any point changing them!

Not if the temperature is 90 ish normally and up to 105 in traffic. What's the max temperature you've seen?

Black - 3rd radiator fan speed (120 deg trigger).

Blue - Engine ECU fuelling

Yellow - Dash temp guage + something else I can't remember off hand.
