Adil 0 Posted December 30, 2005 Hi all I hearing knocking from the rear passenger side suspension as I go over poor road surfaces. I am thinking that the shock has failed. My car has been lowered by 40mm (this was done before I bought the car). You can see the red springs but I am not sure if the shocks have been uprated and I dont know how to check. Would it v bad if I replace the shock with a standard one? As you can tell I dont know much about the suspension system. Thanks, Adil
Supercharged 2 Posted December 30, 2005 Get the wheel off, give it a clean and have a look at it... see if you can see a make and also check the condition of the bumpstop, top mount and also look for oil around the piston... If lowering springs have been put on standard shocks then that will have accelerated the wear, especially if they are the originals... You need to assertain what they are tho to replace but ideally you want to do a pair together... if your unsure I'd get a pair of Koni or Koni TA rears from Halfords etc, not expensive and are height adjustable via circlip to match the fronts...
