iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 17, 2006 hello everyone on my drive home last night as I got into my C I set the MFA to tell me what boost/HG levels: i found.... There is seven different readings avaliable on this function but will tell you my boost levels first! so started driving waited to get engine hot! then started checking boost/HG: on tickover at stop for lights it was sticking pretty much on 600Hg.... so then the fun bit was taking it quite high in the rev range but I didnt take it to the limiter in third of fourth when i was doing this I found the boost up to 1890Hg at highest. I think this works out around about 13p.s.i is this right? and are these levels suggesting my charger is ok not in good shape? or good and fine and everything is hunkey dory? Ten minutes after I got home I did the same procedure and went through the menu on tickover, it said C01 the 1st reading was:1792 2nd is the boost i know this one but the level was then fluctuating between 560 - 590Hg 3rd was 830 4th was 0.4 5th was 3727 6th was 102 7th was 18 Can anyone enlighten me on what these mean/stand for? Hope this is enough info cheers Andy

iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 17, 2006 thankyou very much supercharged i didnt do it for mfa 1 only no.2 do you know if the Hg/boost results i got are ok or not good?
Supercharged 2 Posted January 17, 2006 It's not bad at all but I'd maybe expect a bit more from an R1 stage charger... I think mine was making similar figures before the charger was rebuilt on the standard pulley... when was yours last rebuilt?
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 17, 2006 its not quite 14'000 miles ago! I didnt give it full whack to redline would that of added anymore boost? what should it be running you think? and i will try again.
Supercharged 2 Posted January 17, 2006 Yeah you need to hit the red! 6200rpm... 2000 is what your looking for, maybe more depending on the quality of the rebuild...
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 17, 2006 ok will do a re-test and report back! thanks for all your help/knowledge
catch_twotwo 0 Posted January 17, 2006 ok will do a re-test and report back! thanks for all your help/knowledge Good luck finding a road where you can redline in 3rd and 4th while looking at your MFA ;) I managed it.... but then discovered my MFA isn't working ;)
Dubcharged 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Would be easier to just get a boost gauge. MFA boost info tends to be unreliable.
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 17, 2006 hello everyone went out for a blast at lunch kept getting my power runs interrupted but got 1860H/g on change to 4th not quite hitting limiter but 4th couldnt get anywhere near redine and made 1800Hg at 4000rpm but after that it didnt go up much in the next 60m but then had to break hard! where can i get guage from? and how do u set one up? its more because I want to see if my charger is ok as long as it is Im not overly fussed about boost im running! Dubcharged 0 Posted January 17, 2006 You can get a boost gauge from any performance parts place. Try Demon Tweeks. Very easy to fit, just need to tap off from one of the hoses off the intake plenum.
trev-b 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Where abouts is the intake plenum?
g60griff 0 Posted January 17, 2006 the plenum is basically where the throttle body is, the rectangular shape thing that people polish up, behind the rocker cover
