  1. It's built into the lock mechanism on the boot lid side.... If you look inside where that peg goes you'll see the switch. Mines faulty currently so the boot light is unplugged :(
  2. Ok so I need to get my boot lock off the car in order to replace the boot light switch... however it just won't come off. I've undone the 2 allen bolts, unpluged the power but it won't come off. Any hints ?
  3. Thanks for the confirmation tempest.... Was planning to strip off the ISV and clean it. I also have a spare I can try so might just go to the spare.. I'll check the knock sesnor loom, but was just worried that it pinking after only idling for a few minutes could mean that it's running too rich or something. I'll have to wait till March for timing as it's off the road till then (seasonal license for me this year)
  4. Ok so after sorting my flat battery I've finally had a chance to check this. The car has a new blue temp sender (VAG part), new knock sensor (VAG part from old car, 9 months old) The knock sensor is setup to 15ft/lbs (20.34nm) as this is what most people are saying. Can anyone confirm this 100% :?: I ran the car up from cold (been standing for a few weeks) and let it warm up for about 3 minutes. Then unplugged the blue temp sender and almost no change. A slight reduction in revs but nothing more. Plugged it back in and it rose back up a little. So revved it over 3000 rpm once and let it drop back. It dropped down to about 750 then up and down a few times to level out at about 1500..... The thing that worries me more though it that the car was running for about 5 minutes and was only revved over 3000 rpm once for about a second. When I turned it off it pinked a lot.... and went on pinking for about 3/4 minutes. What's up with that ?????
  5. "surname except in terrorism cases" Interesting... does that mean that terrorists don't have surnames, or that they just don't care :?: Didn there horse have a front numberplate as well..... lead by example.
  6. There is a JOM one an eyebrow as well....

It's a switch inside the boot lock from what I know... 333 947 561 - switch for luggage boot light Got one on order myself. just unplug the boot light to stop it draining the battery.
  8. Are we talking hp at the wheels or flywheel ? Each engine is different after all.... and for some reason I have it in my head that the 2.9 is less powerful than the 2.8 But then again I'm a G60 guy so what would I know
  9. Well I thought the VR6 was standard 190bhp.... so with the spec above you should see more than a 5-15bhp increase surely.
  10. This makes me wonder.... Any benefit of having a setup like this on the standard G60 intercooler ?
  11. Safe bet is to check if they're TÜV checked. If they pass the strict German TÜV then you can use them without much fear.
  12. 195 is just silly.... I had probs enough getting my 215/40/16 through TÜV... they had to phone the tyre manufacturer to ask them if they were rated on a 9" rim. In the book they only listed it to 8.5" but the book was old. As Polo said, unless you want them parting company with the rim on a sharp corner I'd stick with what works. No matter how good the car, driver, suspension, or brakes you still only touch the ground in 4 places, so you've gotta make sure they count.
  13. I always thought that you had to cut and re-weld if you replaced the rear quarters ?
  14. nice to know.... perhaps you can take some pics of the install when you get the filter. Always good to have something useful like this in the Wiki.
  15. As with everything on a C... better to start early I guess  I was thinking about fitting some kind of filter over the winter months myself. Just not sure about what fits. I seem to remember somebody posting on one that fits though. Must have a search about for that...
