Replacing clocks - Easy?

Recommended Posts

Pretty easy,as far as I can remember there's just one scart type plug at the back, just unplug and swap as far as I know.

Very easy... Remove 4 screws securing the clocks surround and remove, undo two screws at top left and top right of clocks, tilt clocks forward and unplug speedo cable and wiring connector, withdraw clocks from car! You may find it easier to unplug the speedo cable from below, in which case you'll need to remove the under-dash tray and reach up.

The speedo cable and wiring can be a nightmare to get out! There isn't much room to get your hand around behind them at all!

Removing the lower part of the dash is prob a good idea. But as far as I remember, that's gonna be a tight squeeze to get you hand up behind there too!

2nd that.

have only just done this recently, and its a doddle. Just dont drop any of the screws when they are undone. Its better to undo them a little and see if you can undo the last few turns with your fingers so you've got a grip of them.

Also, the connector at the back is on the left as you look at it, and you can get your hand in quite easily. just squeeze the two bits that clip it in. Just a question of being very patient the first time. After that, it really is easy.

Oh and try not to bang your head on the windscreen, steering wheel. :D the top two screws first then you can lower the clocks out and to the left to get your arm round and release the lead. simple but fiddly.

Have you got a digital mile counter, or the old type? think the old type has speedo cable, and late type is just electrical connections.
