Dixxy 0 Posted January 26, 2006 I'll soon be needing to fit a new clutch as mine is commonly slipping under load... what clutches do people recommand for the VR6. Mine is running at somewhere around 220 - 230bhp
Supercharged 2 Posted January 26, 2006 Standard VAG clutch should be good for upto 250bhp... Worth doing the chains at the same time if they are original and the car is around the 100k mark...
Dixxy 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Chains have been done etc etc... so buy a replacment from GSF?? i was also thinking about a lightened fly wheel at the same time.
Supercharged 2 Posted January 26, 2006 Nope get a genuine VAG one, much better than the pattern ones! New flywheels are fairly cheap for the VR but if you are going to lighten then you may as well get your existing one done if you can (and if you can leave yer car with no gearbox for a few days..) Dixxy 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Cheers for the great info... as always!!! Any idea of the price of a genuie VAG part??
corradovr6sc 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Think the vag clutch kit is about £120. An exchange flywheel from VW is about £70. A fidanza lightweight flywheel (6.5 lbs) is about £200.
matth76 0 Posted January 29, 2006 Dixxy, sorry to cut in, what mods are you running to have 220-230bhp? Do you have forced induction? I also agree with above, get a genuine VW clutch. I spoke to Stealth recently regarding whether it's worth getting an uprated flywheel and they said it won't make a huge difference. The standard one is very good and lasts very well too.
