GrahamU 6 Posted February 16, 2006 Had a loud sqealing from the rear brakes going home last night, when I got home I found the drivers side wheel was very hot and smelly. I'm guessing the calipers are a bit seized but I cant afford to replace them yet cos I just bought new discs and pads etc to go on this weekend. I know I'll be fighting a losing battle but is there a tecnique to unseizing the calipers till I can afford or find replacements ?
Timo. 0 Posted February 16, 2006 Use a big screw driver, lie down at the back on the car and lever up where the hand brake cable lever is. T.
GrahamU 6 Posted February 18, 2006 OK, so I've seen a pair of Audi A4 TDI rear calipers for sale, can anyone tell me if they'll fit ?? Thanks
Supercharged 2 Posted February 19, 2006 Should do - what year is it? - check they are the alloy ones... You'll also need the MK2-MK4 Conversion hoses from Goodridge
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 19, 2006 I suspect they will. The 55 year A4s use what appear to be MK4 calipers on a solid rotor.....and, Ford Focuses also use the same calipers and pads. They're all Lucas and should fit no problem.
