potatonet 0 Posted February 28, 2006 so my steering jogs back and forth constantly, doesnt matter whether I am braking or driving, if I brake and turn left it goes away, if I break and turn right it gets worse, the constant jogging is what gets me. =-/ anyone, car is aligned, rack doesnt leak and is relatively new, warped disks maybe? axles are tight and wheels are tight... =-(
dr_mat 0 Posted February 28, 2006 CV joints? Wheel bearings? Tyres balanced?
potatonet 0 Posted February 28, 2006 hmmmm 1 axle is shot, that could explain it, completely forgot about that one, wheel bearings are ok I think, and the tires are balanced. thanx
Storm77 0 Posted May 6, 2006 I have recently got mild movements in the steering wheel when i'm going over uneven road, plus a slight judder on breaking. Potholes particularly make the steering wheel jog. It's all aligned, balanced, new tyres, new discs, new near side wheel bearing, mounts are ok, steering all ok last time it was checked, BUT I think the off side bearing needs replacing - could this be a possibility :?: .....would never have thought a dodgy wheel bearing could effect steering! :? potatonet 0 Posted May 6, 2006 well it cant adjust the alignment if the bearing is bad, check you axles.
kongo127 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Did you have a hard drift ou breaking recently with your actual tires? They may not be all round, having a flat spot...
Storm77 0 Posted May 8, 2006 No, the tyres have only been on for 2 weeks and haven't had to work for their money yet! So to reiterate the question, can dodgy wheel bearings have an effect on steering?
potatonet 0 Posted May 8, 2006 when I got my car, I had a bad bearing in the drivers side front wheel, it did affect the steering, THIS SHOULD NOT have been the case, something else was messed up as far as steering goes on the car. so no it should not affect your steering however it might, you would know if you had a bad bearing, the car would squeek and/or howl repeatedly. kongo127 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Once i drived a Corrado with a very bad drivers side front wheel bearing. The steering wasn´t affected...
