Still got Cold Start Problems :(

Recommended Posts

I know there are loads of previous posts about this!

I've cleaned my ISV, got a new a distributer (arm and cap inc). The car runs 100% fine after 2 mins

But....

When starting from cold I have to use the gas pedal for it to take. Then it seems to run very rich and idles like a dog. If I let off it sometimes stalls to.

After 2 mins all is fine and smooth, Idles at around 900-950??

Any ideas what it is most lilely to be and how best to go about fixing / bug finding???

(C in the Sig [2l 16v])

When starting not from cold it just starts straight away but I have noticed that it idles on the 3rd bar of the four that make up 1000rpm

surely that would be 750rpm and too low???

Have you tried taking it somehwere to see if there are any fault codes in the ECU diagnositics which might point to the problem...?

I had all manner if idling troubles when I first got my C (idled low, cut out etc,), and I tried all the usual's (ISV, disty) but they didn't cure it so I bit the bullet and took it to VAG. They didn't get any fault codes from the ECU, but diagnosed two faulty components on a visual inspection. Got the aforementioned components (temprature sensor/throttle switch) changed, never had a problem since...

Hope you get to the bottom of it!

DtM.

Cheers m8, I figured those 2 things would be my next move.

But I wondered before I did it if there could be any other things??
