Dutch24V 0 Posted March 31, 2006 ...and as meneer Cox explained to me you simply tape the key to the clock backing plate and stick it up behind the C clocks somewhere and use your original ignition barrel and key, or something like that. There are also companies that can remove the immobiliser code from the ECU so you wouldn't need the clocks or key. I know of one over here that does that for 100 euro. Dutch24V 0 Posted March 31, 2006 double-6s, D.I.Y. R32 for a grand plus milling costs: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 3&start=15 :D :D
CoxyLaad 0 Posted March 31, 2006 phat ran an r32 on 2.8 24v management, and it ran well, so it proves that the latest vw engine management systems are very clever indeed.
double-6s 0 Posted April 1, 2006 DutchVR6, i'm confused. surely thats a grand, plus milling costs, plus rebuild cost, plus fitting? sounds fekin lovely though
CoxyLaad 0 Posted April 1, 2006 its a grand for the parts, which you have to work on to get to fit. Depends how capable you are to do stuff yourself
Trig 0 Posted April 1, 2006 do it myself stan? you're avin a bleedin laugh mate :) ;)
Stan 24v 0 Posted April 1, 2006 Jay, its still in mate, but Im actually away at the moment and have been since last weekedn, so I told him theres no rush. dr_mat, I have the standard C clocks. The mk4 clocks need to be stripped and wired in behind them in order to get around the immobiliser. Will, dont think you need much more. the engine mounts do need a bit of playing about with though. When Andy did mine, he just got a 4motion car, and used whatever he needed from it. Oh, you'll need an air filter as its on the opposite side. See sig ;)
Dutch24V 0 Posted April 1, 2006 ahhh, ok, then a fair bit more :)

double-6s 0 Posted April 1, 2006 that 24v i was looking at (original post) is from a lhd beetle that was a show car for an ice company. the amps caught fire! the guy said he can't verify the 5k mileage but would happily warranty it. does the fact its from a left-hooker have any bearing? sorry to ask so many questions, but i need a new engine. cheers
Dutch24V 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Shouldn't be problem. I'm sticking a UK engine into a LHD VR. Dutch
double-6s 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Cheers Dutch. There's now a remote possibility of an r32!

double-6s 0 Posted April 2, 2006 i've asked the questions - just waiting for an answer mate. what do you reckon haldex running gear, prop, etc is worth on its own?
PhatVR6 0 Posted April 2, 2006 do it!! actually, I'm half considering selling the 2.8 out of my mk4 in the summer, and fitting the 3.2 out of the corrado (yes, AGAIN!!). got enough bits to build the engine I need for the corrado when I think about it. double-6s 0 Posted April 2, 2006 going to try and sort the money for the r32. wish me luck :)
Trig 0 Posted April 2, 2006 In that case i'd get your brakes upgraded as well mate!
double-6s 0 Posted April 2, 2006 absolutely! but i would have quite a lot more engine braking too ;) looks like i have been tempted by the dark (24v) side trig :( hard to resist 240 bhp and variable inlet etc though
PhatVR6 0 Posted April 2, 2006 200lbs/ft from 2000rpm, it feels good.
double-6s 0 Posted April 2, 2006 200lbs/ft from 2000rpm, it feels good. nice :) musn't get excited - this one is only a possibility at the moment, and i haven't seen many reasonably priced r32 lumps around. i soooo fekin want it though
