neil20vtc 0 Posted April 16, 2006 just noticed that my c's gearbox looks like it has a gromit or something missing from it as i can see a cog and oil has splatted up the side of the engine dont know if you can tell from the pic as i only took it on my phone please help as im quite worried and a numpty when it comes to engines
mrbeige 0 Posted April 16, 2006 That looks like the little hole you look through to time the engine up. The little rubber gromit has fallen out! Not serious I don't think, just get your bum down to the Stealers to get a replacement
neil20vtc 0 Posted April 16, 2006 cheers fella its just had a kr cam put in by dubsport so they must have set the timing and forgotten to put it back in the clowns !!
neil20vtc 0 Posted April 16, 2006 what about the oil that has escaped will i have to top it up or does it use oil from the engine? sorry if a really stupid question
corradophil 3 Posted April 16, 2006 From the picture it looks like the oil has come from elsewhere, maybe cam cover or dizzy. There should not be any oil in there! What you can see is the flywheel and starter motor ring gear. Just check your oil levels are ok.
neil20vtc 0 Posted April 16, 2006 right cheers didnt look like there was any oil in it so thats partly why i was so worried and dubsport did replace the dizzy as well an checked me oil level its alright ill have to give the engine a wipe clean then see if i can tell where its comin from
Riley 0 Posted April 16, 2006 aye,the rubber grommet missing isnt a major problem... its just the oil (probably from rocker cover gasket) could cause a slippy clutch if left over time. neil. :)
