young lad 0 Posted April 18, 2006 Hi there guys, i've noticed a clunky noise from the front end. I don't know what it is, could it be the coil overs/suspension needs looking at ? (as the previous owner said he put the coilovers in but mentioned something about the alignment and to get them looked at ?) Its coming from i think the left side of the engine. Its also occurs when i also turn the steering. I mean things that are there are the suspension, drive shaft or could it be wish bones :S i don't know i am just making wild guess's. I've also noticed when i am driving and picking pace, n i turn to the right or so it will like to wobble and i will have to like not catch it but like sort it out. Help guys. Thanks shazz
Astrasteve 0 Posted April 19, 2006 Try the driveshaft balancer, it's on the drivers side shaft.
Trig 0 Posted April 20, 2006 young lad, this could be so many things, someone posts up a 'clunk' thread every week. If you can be more clear and a bit more specific people will have a better idea of what the problem is. I would recommend getting the allignment sorted before you do anyting else though. Yup go with Trig on the alignment first. Then get it on axle stands and check the torque loading on all of the suspension and subframe bolts. If it still clunks we need to know what the car is doing when is does, is it speed dependant? etc. But a good 80% of the front end clunking can be cured by alignment and a good torque check. (Figures for torque loading can be found in the bentley manual or on the knowledge base (link at top of forum)
