markievw 0 Posted April 20, 2006 hi Took my vr6 to the garage as it seems to be lacking perfomance. Came back with a problems with Camshaft Position Sensor. Will this affect the performance? and also the general running? How easy is it to rectify? As i understand you replace the magnet. Anybody else had this problem and how did they fix it cheers mark
steve @ 0 Posted April 20, 2006 Common problem on the VR6. Will cause poor performance if its shot (has been know to loose up to 30bhp ( think this was on kev's?)). Easy enough to replace around a 10min job. The part number for this is (W021 907 601 A) £40.73 including vat from VAG.
Dixxy 0 Posted April 20, 2006 I'm sure GSF do them a little cheaper... bout £25 - £30 i think
markievw 0 Posted April 20, 2006 are they easy to replace?, where is it located in the engine bay?
steve @ 0 Posted April 20, 2006 Yep easy to replace, it's located above the coilpack under the end plastic lead cover. 1 x 6mm allen key from what I remember.
