VR6 missfire at high revs

car has started stuttering after 4000rpm and will not accellerate properly any ideas folks? was thinking coilpack maybe?!?! :wink: :roll: :roll:

 

only know about g60`s

Had the same problem mate, well from what you say its the exact same. Got it scanned with VAGcom and nothing came up. Took it too Awesome gti and they had a look at it and in the end the problem was a loose connection with 1 or 2 of the leads. Hope this helps.

I had exactly this, spent a fortune replacing leads, coilpack etc. AMD traced the fault in the end to the engine speed sensor but it didn't show on VAG.com as the wires were chafing on the engine block or something like that so it wasn't permanently faulty. It was worst when cold and gradually got better until 20 mins or so of driving by which time it would be fine again. Check it out....

You don't replace the engine speed sensor for fun unless you know it's dead. It is hard to diagnose, however, and you really have to scan the ECU for faults BEFORE turning the ignition off whenever something "bad" happens. As soon as you turn the ignition off any "intermittent" engine speed sensor faults are overwritten.

I had a similar problem and it was the HT leads, although VW said head gasket o_O
