wiring in fan

so i'm changing over to a slim line fan which is single speed 2 wire. but the oe fan is 3 wire 2 speed.

so do i link the two feeds together or just use one of the wires.?

bit stumped. cos if i use one wire.if the thermostat switches over from slow to high it would cut the power to the slim line fan. then over heat..

or if i use the high wire it wont kick in till the temps very high.?

any ideas
