localhost.80 0 Posted May 2, 2006 I checked my car out today and I saw that my idle screw is missing. what should I do to replace this. I already bought a new one.
Riley 0 Posted May 2, 2006 i think the correct thing to do is to: unplug the bts (blue temp sensor,in top coolant hose) and then stick the idle screw in,turn it in untill the tickover is around the 750-800 rpm mark and then plug the bts back in. blip the throttle a few times and check the tickover is good.around 850-900 rpm should be good. neil. :)
localhost.80 0 Posted May 2, 2006 I tried that before but the idle screw won't go in for some weird reason.
Riley 0 Posted May 2, 2006 if its a new one with new rubber seal on there...you will have to push it in the hole until the threads meet each other :) unless some ones bunged sommet in there that they shouldnt have??! without the screw in there,it should tickover pretty high, whats it like? neil. localhost.80 0 Posted May 2, 2006 how can I check that? because I can only see from side angles? 0 It really sucks, 1400rpm-1600rpm on idle! I just had some shop replace the throttle position sensor. mybe I didn't need it(ggrrr) :bad-words:
localhost.80 0 Posted May 2, 2006 when I bought it, it had some rubber plug on it and it was being held by a piece of coat hanger wire.
Riley 0 Posted May 2, 2006 a little mirror? although the tickover sounds like theres probably nothing stuck in there... try stick your finger over the hole while the cars running :) neil.

localhost.80 0 Posted May 3, 2006 I checked the idle screw using a mirror like you said , :D and to my surprise I found the screw suck all the way in. Now what should I do?
Henny 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Turn on the engine, warm it up to around 80degrees water and oil temps, disconnect the blue temp sensor and then unscrew the screw until you get a decent idle speed... reconnect the blue temp sensor and you should then have a good idle speed from then on... ;) 8)
localhost.80 0 Posted May 3, 2006 I am not able to turn on the car because of timing issues, but I was able to remove the screw using a small flat tip driver. THANKS
