A5 VRX 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Failed this morning on Handbrake efficiency (13%) and on ABS, the light doesn't come on when iginition is turned on, needs to go on then off. Any ideas, bulb?, sensors?
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Could in fact be the bulb, yes. But most likely someone disabled it for a reason (an expensive one). :( Best way to find out is to ask the ECU what's up. If you can't talk to the ABS at all, it's been disconnected, or the fuse is gone, or the relay has been removed.
samm_cvr6 0 Posted May 13, 2006 I had exactley the same problem, best to plug into vag-com. rear sensors about 50 each I think. with the hand brake might mean new calipers, think there about 90 each. hope you sort it ok.
A5 VRX 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Would this be a dealer thing or would a vw specialist know? Are you talking about vagcom then?
A5 VRX 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Winner. Really cant be arsed with lobbing money at this.
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Any VW specialist will have the appropriate kit to read that error code, and yes we mean VAGCOM (or equivalent).
quicky1980 0 Posted May 13, 2006 bulb blew on mine last week. check it.
A5 VRX 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Where do i get a bulb and what am i asking for? Seems the bulb was only held in by one pin and snapped off at the other one. Cheers quicky1980, (if it is that!)
quicky1980 0 Posted May 14, 2006 i used a 12v led bulb just to make do. When you put an led in make sure its the right way around due to the fact they need to have the right polarity. ie if u but the led into the circuit and it doesnt light up try it with the wires wired up differently. I sed a blus one and it shines through fine, but dont realy like the look of it so may put a red one in
A5 VRX 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Just get it from maplin then? Shouldn't really matter what colour though surely?
quicky1980 0 Posted May 14, 2006 colour doesnt matter. I had my blue led from stock. Maplin will have them. Suppose if you wanted you could just put a bulb back in. but i thought the led's will last longer. hope this helps. i remember when i had this problem i thought cr@p the abs is stuffed looks like ££££!!! but all it cost was a cheap led lol
A5 VRX 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Cheers mate, i'll let you know how it goes then!
was8v 0 Posted May 14, 2006 a dealer should be able to get you the correct bulb.
dr_mat 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Bulb is not available seperately from the dealer - you have to buy the whole trim assembly and it's ££££. (Did you expect any less from the stealership?)
