sunroof slide

Recommended Posts

My C G60's sunroof only tilts and will not slide back.

When I press the button to make it slide it sounds as if is giving its best to do it but just doesnt manage it.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is it easy to fix, will I have to get a mechanic to do it or would someone who is not very car mechanically litirate (myself) be able to do it on their own.

Will it go back down under it's own steam after you tilt it?

If so, you need a new left locking segment (357 877 385)

If it won't, you need a new left cable with guide (1h0 898 015A) and probably a new locking segment as well.

The former can be replaced with the roof in place, the latter means you need to take the roof out (and some white grease to lube the cable before fitting it or you'll burn the motor out...)

Theres an easy fix to the sunroof problem!

On the back end of the rocker is a small rubber bead thing.

This from good use of the sunroof suffers from work hardening ( the metal goes brittle and come lose)

If you have found this problem you need to take the spring on the rocker off.

Now, when you tilt the sunroof it will usually bring the rocker up.

In the up position it locks the sunroof going back. So what you do, is when in tilt mode, push the front of the rocker down so its flat.

Buy this time you should be buzzing with adrenalin that this was so bloody easy compared to removing the whole bloody sunroof.

Whos the man!
