vr6storm 0 Posted September 19, 2003 found this on the yahoo-E-group:- From: "Hartley, Guy" Date: Tue Aug 13, 2002 7:19 am Subject: RE: [Corrado-UK] VR6 cutting out problem part 2 A common fault with VR6 C's Unfortunately can be any number of things but the most common are: 1 Faulty or dirty MAS sensor (Air Flow Meter) - Try removing the sensor and cleaning with some carb cleaner. Check the readings on the sensor as detailed in the Bentley manual. 2 Faulty ISV (Idle Stabilisation Valve) - Again remove / clean or swap with another C owner to see if the problem goes. 3 Factory Immobiliser coil has slipped and is causing the engine to cut out, Only fitted on cars late '94 - to end of production run. Check to see if you have a transponder key, if so remove the plastic surround from the ignition barrel and ensure the receiver (metal coil) is firmly tied in place adjacent to the lock. 4 Faulty Ignition switch. Hope these give you some more pointers to look at. Since the posting the car has been down with the VW specialist. They have checked the majority of your suggestions and I wanna thank you all heaps. The problem is still there and the last time I drove the car it cut out 8 times in 3 miles. I have also noticed that it does not seem to cut out from cold for the first mile or so but does very frequently from then on. I have had this problem for a few months (very infrequently at first) but it has got gradually worse. But when I got the Toad immobilizer removed it appeared to stop for awhile. In the meantime I drove upto and around Scotland 1800 miles with no problems. Then shortly after getting back to London the problems started again, getting worse and worse. The garage who are looking at the problem have say that both fuel and ignition are stopped when the problem occurs. I beleive they have also tried changing fuel pump and relay etc but with no luck. If anyone has any more suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Kevin Original post I have a Corrado VR6 which I love. However I have been having problems with it and no-one seeems able to diagnose them. The problem is that when driving along the car will suddenly cut out and will not re-start for a few minutes. When it does restart it runs perfectly until it cuts out again. The problem has happened when both hot and cold and at all speeds. It has also got much more frequent recently. Yesterday it cut out 3 times in 2 miles. Your help would be very greatly appreciated. Auto electricains and garages seem to be baffled by this but I am sure someone out there has had the same problem. Many Thanks hopefully this might point you in the right direction
