What socket for tightening front wheel bearing on a VR?

what size and type of socket is required for tightening the front wheel bearing on a VR6? where can i get one and what will it cost??

Do you mean the hub nut? If so IIRC it's a 30mm socket, and just a standard 12 point socket, we got one from halfords. Prob easiest getting a VAG nut.

You might need a breaker bar to do it up tho! The wiki says 265Nm, I just did it up as tight as possible.

that was gonna be my next question- how tight should it be? (without the use of a torque wrench) - i'll check the wiki, thanks for your help.

Just do it up effing tight!

 

Incidentally, my Bentley has the figure wrong (says 90 + 1/2 turn) which the person who fitted it used. When I took the wheel off, there was significant movement in the hub, which must have been the same in the wheel. I was doing 145 with a wobbly wheel

Yep, defo used a 30mm socket.

I use a Gedore 30-mm 12 point impact.
