ball joints

Recommended Posts

hi guys im having problems with bottom ball joints on my vr6, so far ive fitted europarts ones and gsf ones and they only seem to last 3months before they start knocking. :o has anybody else encountered this problem or is it just me? im wondering if the problem is that they just supply puny golf ones that arnt upto the job of controlling the heavy vr6, just a thought!

Why don't you just fit VAG ones?

- I have had trouble with almost every pattern part I've ever bought either not fitting or not lasting anywhere near as long as the original it replaced.... VW only from now on, worth the extra imo especially on a Corrado!

yup, another vote for genuine VAG over pattern parts for suspension parts...

Hi guys, Although i have not actually run mine for any length of time I had to replace a ball joint just recently. Hardened posters will have seen my problems getting the darned thing to fit (had to call my retired engineer father all the way to scotland!) I presume that the camber angle is okay? i know that this can be affected if the ball joint on the bottom isn't correctly lined up. Incidentally many years both side of the counter in the motor trade taught me that the majority of parts whether pattern or OE spec can come from the same factory! Shocker I know!

hi

cheers guys the car is completely standard as far as the suspension goes i just renewed everything that wears at about 120000 miles so about 10000 ago! and ive got through 6 ball joints in that lengh of time!! as i always change in pairs i have set the camber at negative 1.8 degrees which is the maximum tolerance but im goin to have to try some vw ball joints and not think too long about the cost!!

going around curbourgh at the wkend so have to get it done before then eh!

cheers again
