Nugget 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I have a 1990 Corrado, 1.8, 16V and am having trouble starting when the car has been out in hot weather. The car has a Clifford immobiliser fitted but I don't think the issue is electrical as all dashboard lights come on but there's no response at all from the engine. Does anyone have any advice they can offer. Thanks David
Bally 0 Posted July 19, 2006 ignition switch probably dead....
Nugget 0 Posted July 19, 2006 Bally Thanks for that. When the car has been stored overnight in the garage it's starting up fine. Would this still suggest a problem with the ignition switch?
Supercharged 2 Posted July 19, 2006 There is a similar thread but I don't think it's been resolved... My money would be on the starter solenion sticking whcih is most likely to happen in very hot weather, try smacking it with a large metal bar to free it, you can also check for 12v to the plug on it (fat black and red wire) - if you get 12 then it's bound to be the starter (soleniod), nothing and it's the ignition switch or some weird imob or wiring fault. Worth changing or trying a new switch anyways as they fail eventually...
