Supercharged 2 Posted July 20, 2006 It probably just cut out once... Is it running ok? of so just clear it and see if it comes back...

Crasher 3 Posted July 21, 2006 If it is a post 8/95 with the stepper motor idle control (no separate ISV) then the most common reason for that fault code is a dirty throttle body. Remove it and clean the internals of the body gently with a nylon brush and aerosol carb cleaner. After re-fitting, it will need to be set up in Basic Adjustment mode, group 098. dav 0 Posted July 24, 2006 Crasher, I have cleaned the throttle body and put it back, it was quite dirty in there and the intake pipe also had some oil in it. I tried to find “Basic Adjustment mode, group 098.” but I could not locate it. I also went through the basic setting but I could not find anything to set up the throttle body. I am using VAG 1551 to do my diagnostics, am I missing something??? Thanks Dav.
Crasher 3 Posted July 24, 2006 It's a post 8/95 Golf 3 isn't it?
dav 0 Posted July 25, 2006 It is, (OBD2) but it’s all sorted now I was trying to perform the throttle adjustment with the engine running silly mistake really. I found out later that you can this with the ignition on but not running, you can hear the throttle go through the motions and the end result is a much smoother running engine. Thanks for your help.
