I think i have pulled the handbrake out of the car

Recommended Posts

Well..i think it was the MOT test centre.

Car Passed with flying colours :multi:

But i got in the car afterwards and when i pulled the handbrake on it ended up pointing to the sky

Had a search but couldn;t find much on it. I know its a common problem, but can anyone shead any light on what needs doing?

The handbrake Mech is all wobberly

Cheers

Oh great.

I take it you need to remove the centre tunnel and get it welded back into place?

What kind of weld tig/mig etc, my Uncle can weld but i don;t know what he is trained in

Thanks

They've pulled it so hard they've ripped the spot welds where it brackets to the floor... idiots!

The handbrake would have failed at some point, the raddo handbrake is so poor the tester would have been trying as he would to get a pass and the welds on the handbrake would have failed at any time.

Im a tester aswell and you lot just shout at us :p

Just my two pence worth....

Cheers

could also be that you've been unlucky and simply snapped a handbrake cable after the mot...

You'll be able to tell which it is once you've removed the center tunnel cover inside the car to have a look at the mechanism... ;)
