poundhound 0 Posted August 17, 2006 should mention that I'm a bit bitter at the moment cos mines being a pain in the Rs. My passat 16v 1.8 KR had 215k before head gasket problem killed it. I did get a replacement engine had its head done then decided to scrap the car. Corrado is more economically viable to continue spending money on so enjoy. corradophil 3 Posted August 18, 2006 Mines on 166,000 miles and still going strong. Its on it's orginal untouched bottom end. Oil pressure is above the recommended minimum suggesting the bearing shells are in good shape for the mileage. As with any car it is a bit of a gamble, if the car is the right price and everything else is fine it is probably worth the risk, but its worth budgeting for engine work just in case you run in to problems. JonnyHill 0 Posted August 18, 2006 Cheers for the advise guys. I will keep my fingers crossed as well I think. Its only a grand so not too pricey. How much do you think a egine will cost roughly to buy and fit if it comes to that?
