2corrados 0 Posted October 5, 2006 HI Anyone got a vr6 piston ring compressor, so my mech can put the new rings in next week. Happy to buy a cheap one, or pay to borrow one Many thanks if you have. Dic :D
tug 0 Posted October 6, 2006 Any piston ring compressor should do, as long as the diameter can be adjusted to over 82mm. When I did my engine rebuild, I just got one from the local motor factors, wasn't expensive...
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted October 6, 2006 It needs to be on angle like the bores, use a standard one and cut it to suit.

TREVR6 0 Posted October 6, 2006 I found that cos the bores are on an angle to the head mating surface it's possible to do it without a compressor, by just putting them in a bit at a time and working the rings in from the highest point downwards, as you slowly push the piston down, if you know what i mean??????? Takes a little while longer but not too bad of a job......... Compared to some at least!
