mattnorgrove 0 Posted October 9, 2006 Ok, so fitting a 12" active sub in the missus's 02 beetle, but struggling to find a decent earth point for the groung lead. Has anyone carried out said install in said car? Or does anyone know of a decent forum for the new bug? (if only every car had a forum this good!) Cheers guys.... Supercharged 2 Posted October 9, 2006 Hi mate... It's going in the boot I take it... lift one or the rear seats and maybe run it from the seat belt locks.
Corradokid135 0 Posted October 9, 2006 should be able to earth it anywhere in the trunk , just drill a little hole in the bottom of the trunk, sand off the paint where it will be, and then screw it down. If you dont feel like drilling holes then the seatbelt thing should probally work ok to.
dinkus 10 Posted October 9, 2006 Oh jeebus - don't go drilling holes in the bodywork! There's a conveniently manly-sized, threaded stud behind the passenger-side rear door card. Run the cable to that, stick a suitably large ring and nut on it and Robert is your mother's brother.
Corradokid135 0 Posted October 10, 2006 I was talking non visable done right hole drilling. My 90 has 3 small holes drilled in its trunk for the 0 gauge ground wire :) haha. as long as you do it correctly it works great. It was just an opinion anyway. Goodluck
mattnorgrove 0 Posted October 10, 2006 supercharged tried the seatbelt anchor point, to no avail (with multimeter) dinkus is there an easy way of removing the rear P/S door card? have run all cables into boot up P/S and tried to remove the card but didnt want to yank it in the wrong place and snap a clip or 2, so went under the rear seat bench in the end. Are there any screws i should be aware of? Thanks for the info all.... (if i dont get the install sorted soon, my b*lls will be a fancy handbag) :|
